Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart is now the richest woman in Asia-Pacific. Her fortune has doubled to $18 billion thanks to a deal signed in January that will see South Korean steel giant Posco take a 15% stake in her yet-to-be-developed Roy Hill iron ore mine in Western Australia. The deal valued the project at a $10 billion, boosting Rinehart's fortune dramatically. But Rinehart, who inherited her mining assets from her father, Lang Hancock, and whose second husband died in 1990, may not hold onto the fortune for long. She is fighting legal action launched by three of her four children over the operation of a family trust.
